Catty & Batty: Halloween Update


Hello everyone!

I've just published an update for Catty & Batty for Steam/Itch, which adds a New Game+ mode with 30 remixed levels. I've had this idea for a while, and the recent console launch finally made me do it.

It didn't take too much time, since it mostly mixes already existing mechanics. And drawing some new images for the new overworld was a fun break from working on Still Leben.

In addition, it's also an experiment as to how far I can push the update out to new Steam players. I will use one of the few visibility round jokers that Steam provides (even though they recently made it less impactful) and will let you know the numbers after the event is complete.

I'm not sure whether this update will make it to consoles. Updates on consoles are extremely complicated, every build is a separate Unity project, and every time you make a bigger update, you have to make sure it's okay with the already established ratings (E for Everyone). I've been thinking long and hard whether to do this update at all if it means I can't give it to my console players, but on the other hand, I didn't want to hold back either.

In other news, I'm still waiting for art for Still Leben, but I'm using the time to finish the remaining details. A few days ago, I was on a trip to visit family, and I was listening to all 14 tracks on repeat for 5 hours in the car. I think I only have a few minor things to change, otherwise it's very close to being done.

The album that I've been creating with KAON is also waiting for cover art, and KAON has finished mastering all tracks.

So who knows, maybe in a month or two from now, both will already be released!

As for Turnament, I'm in the process of setting up a Steam page with the new art. As soon as that is done, I will post my next devlog entry, which should show off the new art and the first few levels.
