Still here? ALRIGHT!
This week I had some troubles with OneDrive, almost lost 2 days of work, but I got it all working again. Phew! Here's what I managed to do, despite technical difficulties:
Updates
- Started working on another track with samples by TaskBeenden, so far I really like it!
- Talked to KAON and we started working on a track together (full trailer version)! So far it's 🔥
- Gamespeed: I decided to add an option to reduce gamespeed, down to 50%. This should help a lot with accessibility.
- Auto-select seeker in endless mode (suggested by Toyoch)
- Pause screen menu items make more sense now (no more "restart" in Unlockables)
- Added melody to building crystals in level editor
- Updated credits (added all my Patrons too)
- Added medals to challenge mode, so you can see which ones you have won
- SaimizZ has finished the launch trailer, can't wait to show it to you all :D
I had a quite productive Friday, and I can't wait to have another day like this very soon!
More Gamespeed
I actually tried allowing it up to 200%, but anything above 100% breaks the movement code. The issue is that an object travels a certain distance every frame. If that distance is very far, you start to skip crystals and target waypoints (you basically start to teleport around). To fix this, I would need to simulate moving it between frames, and I'm not quite sure how to do this, especially while keeping performance in check as well. For now, I have put it on the nice-to-have pile for after launch.

Thoughts on Upcoming Launch
With the release date now out in the open, I don't have any excuse anymore. This game needs to be done soon. It honestly stresses me out a bit, but that happens with every release (even Still Leben or Desdemona). I thought about releasing it a week later, but what will one week do? The game is (mostly) done, everything from now on is nice-to-have. I can add stuff later, if I want. I just need to wrap this project up, or I'll keep working on it forever.
The longer you work on a project, the more you start getting all these doubts and you start to mess with the game's core mechanics. I have so many ideas, but I need to step away and work on a new project soon. The clock is ticking.
To be continued... 💎
