Turnament Devlog Nr. 16 - Demo Feedback

The demo has been out on Steam for a week now, and some of you have sent in lots of good feedback! I will keep this devlog short and just post what I've changed.

  • Huge performance boost by enabling vsync. Uncapped FPS are not a good idea. (thanks Daniel Floyd)
  • Fixed a crash that would occur on HDR enabled displays in fullscreen mode. (thanks Daniel Floyd)
  • Changed color of broken fields to dark blue for better distinction (thanks SaimizZ)
  • Changed crystal layout in level 7 to make it similar to the original level again (thanks to Millie and SaimizZ for pointing this out)
  • Fixed a bug where if you skip the cutscene too quickly, the squares that draw the level number would cause an energy surplus, breaking the energy cursor. I fixed this by drawing the numbers with separate gameobjects to avoid all the confusion entirely. It's cool that the numbers got drawn with the actual grid, but who cares. :D (thanks Daniel Floyd)

  • Added background particle system for when you have a resolution that isn't "supported", i.e. not 16:9. I'm using a second camera for this which is simply looking in a different direction. :D
  • Fixed an error that made a macOS export impossible. Yes, I will try to make mac versions available again this time.

I have also made the first additional track, it's going to play as soon as you visit Mars. It's not in the game just yet, but definitely in the next update!

Steam sent out a Next Fest preview, and I already saw Turnament in there. Very exciting!

The next update will have new music, and probably also the new logo and background, not sure if it'll be done in time.

Open issues include:

  • Wrong font color in feedback form in Linux (thanks Millie)
  • Buggy slowmo, just needs to be calculated better :D
  • There's a bug in levels with a repair seeker (like level 25), selection is broken when a repair seeker dies and you have something else selected.
  • ... And more!

I'm also planning a little secret, I hope I also can get this going within the next few days.

It's going to be an exciting time now until the Next Fest starting June 13th!

Thanks to everyone who has played the demo so far, please keep the feedback coming. <3
