hqtrilogy log nr. 37

Session 1: I kept working on adding the images to halfquake9, but other than moving a few pictures around and making a new "small light", I didn't get anything else done (too tired).

Session 2: I made a new version of the manson room with completely new art and sent the artist a video for a preview, hoping that he'd like it.

Session 3: Yes, he liked it :D I continued replacing the Manson CDs on the table with something that I think is pretty cool (with images by the same artist). You'll have to see it for yourself though :D

Session 4: I rounded off the stairs in the house because I think it adds a bit of a detail. With all the art in the house I want to make sure it all fits together as good as possible without breaking the style of the game too much (there should be a bit of a break in style, that's what the house was supposed to be in the first place).

Session 5: I attempted to fix the doors in the house again. The main problem always was that the player could get stuck in the door frame. My previous attempt was to let the player open the door "on use only", but it just doesn't feel good at all to have to press "E" to open a door (especially because it wasn't like this in the past 17 years). I've now put the trigger_multiples back in, made the doors open via trigger again (not via "use"), and simply added a "clip" brush in the corner of the door, where the door knob is. That way, there's no corner for the player to get stuck in anymore. The door still makes a funny noise when squeezing the player, but that's a Half-Life Featureā„¢.

Session 6: I put some more work into decorating the walls around the artworks, and moved two photos of staircases to the ceiling of the stairs. I think that's it now, the artworks are displayed with a lot of thought & care. I can move on to the next task.

Session 7: The toilet paper can now be activated to make it glow. :D Only you and I know about this, so don't tell anyone! :P (just kidding)

This entry and the next will be short (all of the above happened before our honeymoon), but there will be bigger changes afterwards, hopefully with more music and an enhanced (finished?) starting area.

Wish you all a nice week!
