Turnament Devlog Nr. 20 - Playable Endless Mode!



Dear space mining apprentices!

Steam Next Fest was an absolute blast. Here are some stats:

  • Turnament got added to another 100 wishlists (for a total outstanding wishlists of 199)
  • Approximately 500 people played it (Steam says 1100 people, but that probably includes some bots that were just farming Steam badges :D)
  • That's already double the amount of people who have ever played the demo for Catty & Batty!
  • The live stream had 18k unique viewers and ~290 max concurrent viewers

Reaching 500 players means that I will add a level editor to the game! Not sure if I can do it for launch, but we'll see.

You can watch the recorded Next Fest live stream in the video at the top of this post. I showcased the new level generator and played until level 55 at one point. I brainstormed new ideas with Millie, Hobo, SaimizZ, Jancias and Nungy, and talked about the new Matrix movie and other Next Fest demos.

This concludes Steam Next Fest! I learned a lot and got an incredible amount of feedback. Now it's time to finish this game and all the promised features.

Demo Update!

Here's this week's changelog:

  • Fully playable random generator (selectable on start screen)
  • Random Generator: Seekers, creators, crystals, projectiles, broken squares
  • Random Generator: Based on System.Random for Seeding, every seed results in the same string of levels
  • Random Generator: Level progression + starting point safe guards
  • Random Generator: Add minimum/maximum amount of crystals the higher your current level
  • Random Generator: Make sure to not spawn projectiles inside "walls"
  • Random Generator: Add new transition that focuses on the seeker
  • Random Generator: Save last played random seed in settings
  • Random Generator: Let user select seed (+ randomize button)
  • Random Generator: Added new mode for creator (rotating projectiles)
  • Random Generator: Remember high scores for each seed number
  • Fixed music option not being applied correctly at the start of the game
  • Fixed issue with video option arrows not always reacting to mouse hover (finally)
  • Fixed issue where you could walk into the lower left corner of the field

There are already a lot of things that I want to add for the random generator, I'm really excited about it!

However, this week will probably be a bit slower (dentist and one day away from home). We'll see when the next update arrives!
