Catty & Batty 2: DevLog #13

Hello, hello!

We're exactly one week away from the Steam Spring Festival! Past two weeks were pretty eventful, and I'm getting more nervous with every passing day. In fact my heart keeps racing now whenever I work on anything for Catty & Batty (I'm actually anxious while typing this), and I'm starting to have troubles sleeping, so i have to take it a bit slower and make sure that only the most necessary things are implemented. It's a "known thing" with me though, this also happened with the Halfquake Trilogy release in 2018, and with all previous releases in general, so I know that it's going to be like that until it's released and behind me. Until then I just have to ride it out, be careful and take meaningful breaks. I remember for the Sunrise release in 2010 it was particularly bad at one point at night, when I suddenly realized how many potential people it could reach, and that whatever I create with Sunrise I would have to live with for the rest of my life (as I witnessed with the other 2 mods). I also can't really describe what causes it. It's probably some sort of stage fright kind of thing. I'm a very introverted person, so anything outgoing stresses me the heck out. :D But I have to get it out there anyway.

This is probably nothing important to you all, but I still felt like mentioning it.

The demo is already out and you can try it (or in case of my patrons, you should have received a key for the full game). Not sure how much I will keep updating the demo with the new changes, since they're now separate projects (sharing a git branch with the demo in a separate branch). But, as always, we shall see.

The release date for the full game is February 10th, so exactly one day after the festival ends. My hope is that people who wishlisted it still have it fresh on their minds.

When the game is launched, I need every help that I can get: People who can stream it, people who can post Steam reviews, and of course, people who can share it. So, I hope I can reach a wide enough audience. The first week is crucial.

The price will be €4.99, which is something I discussed with a potential publisher friend, so it should be a good enough price point for this kind of game. This is definitely a new territory for me, but it feels right. I'll share all the stats with you all as things happen in the next 14 days.

Full changelog is available on itch, as always.

The new build isn't live just yet as it's a bit unstable, but i hope i can finish everything up on the weekend.

Hope you are all having a good week, as best as it can be. 💚🖤
